Space-X to Send Tourists to Orbit the Moon with Long-Term Sights on the Moon

Elon Musk: Big Goofy Swinging Dick

Elon Musk has good news. Well, Elon Musk wants you to think he has good news. Musk's Space-X is booked to send Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa on a pleasure flight orbiting the moon.

As Musk says though:

"To be clear. This is dangerous.... it's not a sure thing... there are some chances things could go wrong,"

To be fair, things aren't going that well with Tesla Motors either. Besides Tesla Motors money problems, I'm sure it has development problems too. The problem right now is that it's pretty hard to get a Tesla repaired. The story of Tesla owners repair woes made headlines on September 16:

In a series of tweets on Sunday, Musk blamed outside shops for taking too long to complete repairs.

Specifically, Musk wrote: "Tesla is bringing most collision repairs in-house, as outside firms take weeks to months for repairs, driving Tesla owners (and us) crazy."

Musk's plan is:

bring most collision repairs in-house — a promise he first made during the company's annual shareholder meeting in June.

He eventually wants to do most repairs in under an hour.

Is it just me or is what the cool science "it boy" saying asinine? His strategy seems to be revealing itself to be reactionary. He not only in that he has to fix an obvious problem that never should have been a problem. No, he pledges to fix his current problem(s) and then he gives you an outrageous goal/plan.

Maybe he can get his lofty goals achieved. His strategy though is a super risky one. The man is no Ford. Industrial pioneers and icons of the past like Ford and Lindbergh were earnest and dignified. If you Google Image Search Musk, he looks like a goof and I'm not even talking about him smoking weed with Joe Rogan. It should be obvious that the buzz with Grimes and the puff-puff-pass was a way to create goodwill and publicity.

Musk may be cool, and he may be a good guy but I am seriously questioning how much of his planned empire will materialize.

Naming the motor car company "Tesla" is another example of the Musk hype beast. Electric motors have been around for 100 years. Tesla Motors has not made any real breakthroughs in anything and Tesla Motors is not using any real Nikola Tesla design. Musk's Tesla Motor Cars have no right to be named after Nikola Tesla but, as they are, they should be paying whatever Tesla Family there is left.

The Big Falcon Rocket (BFR)

The BFR Doesn't Exist but it's Being Tested in 2019

Is it a coincidence Musk and Space X announced their billionaire customer right after the shareholder meeting?

Maezawa will attempt to be the first to return to the moon in nearly half a century, launching aboard a Big Falcon Rocket (BFR), which SpaceX is developing. BFR is the flagship for Musk's vision of creating a permanent, self-sustaining human presence on Mars, and testing on the behemoth rocket is expected to begin next year.

The trip is expected to be launched in 2023.

My money is on No One Going Nowhere. Not in four years.

Musk also thinks his computer-generated rocket, the same rocket that is supposedly headed to the moon is somehow going to Mars too. If a physical BFR even works, I guess Musk is developing a super-efficient fuel too...

Sort:

I went to the moon last week. I was eating cheese with some little green men.

That sounds delightful.
Soarry but I only have one shot at one cent at 110 vp. Fucking ghey.

I think that you have a good point here. It seems a bit far fetched to do all of this is a few years. Even a decade is far away.
I am all about exploration, but I think we should look to the oceans. We barely know the depths of the oceans and its creatures, and we are looking up. In a resourceful sense, Earth will always the humanity's hub, even if we become multi-planetary. I think that value wise, it makes so much more sense to go under. It would cost MUCH LESS and we are MUCH more likely to find something useful down there. Like... possible basterias that eat plastic. That would be very useful....
Or a Kraken... Hoping for a large and very mean Kraken. How cool would that be?
