Ross 128b: The neighbor exoplanet
Ross 128 is one of the stars that is closest to our sun and recently astronomers have made the discovery of a new exoplanet around this star, which they called: Ross 128b.
Ross 128b is orbiting about 11 light years away from the solar system, this being the second closest exoplanet after Proxima b. By using radial velocity, using the HARPS instrument, the astronomers of the Southern observatory made this discovery. Due to this, great data was obtained regarding this exoplanet, such as, for example, that Ross 128b takes approximately 9.9 days to complete a turn around its star, therefore it is very likely that this exoplanet is in the habitable zone of its star system, in addition to having a size quite similar to planet earth.

There is no 100% confirmation of where Ross 128b is located, as some data may show that it is outside the habitable zone, while others place it on the inner edge of the area. Bearing in mind that Ross 128b is 20 times closer to its star than our planet to the sun, it receives a percentage of radiation more than our planet, an approximate of 38%, this results in that this exoplanet could have a temperature between -60º C and 20º C.
Ross 128b is just one of many exoplanets that are hidden in the vastness of the universe, this is an exoplanet of which, during the next few years will be studied in depth, due to the information we can obtain from it, In fact, being an exoplanet with a fairly quiet star, the possibility that life can be found in Ross 128b are more hopeful.
