Great post! Did you hear the breaking news today? NASA's looking to hire a Planetary Protection Officer. Salary is $187,000 per year to protect us from alien contamination!

    I had not heard. And now that I have, I am not sure what to make of it. With such job description, the person would have huge authority over any mission. But the pay is not commensurate with that level of authority. So, I have no idea what is the actual job this person is going to do.
