How to Decide When You Should Talk Fast or Slow

in #science7 years ago

Some people are naturally fast talkers and some people are slow!

Most of us have the ability to control the speed of our speech but have you ever wondered when should we use it? I mean is talking fast ''better''?

Of course, The answer is contextual depending on the circumstances.

WHEN YOU WANT A SOUL-TO-SOUL CONNECTION

In Every romantic moment, the tempo of speech between characters slows?

When we are deeply connected to another person, our speech rate naturally slows down and we talk less.

By slowing the speed of your speech you can dramatically increase familiarity and understanding through your conversations. And, you will be communicating more completely. Powerful communication opens doors to deeper relationships and more special connections with others.

WHEN YOU WANT TO LOOK SMART

Obviously, the speed of speech has nothing to do with your intelligence. For example, Nikola Tesla was not a fast talker neither was Einstein or Da Vinci. Yet fast speakers are viewed as intelligent.

Actors get instructed to speak faster when they play intelligent characters, To them the faster a character speaks, the more clever and competent they come off.

A research conducted in 1976 by Norman Miller and his colleagues suggested that people who talked faster seemed more credible to listeners Fast speech indicated confidence, intelligence, objectivity, and experience.

WHEN YOU WANT TO GET PEOPLE EXCITED

A research conducted in 1995 by Stephen Smith and David Shaffer suggested that fast talking is associated with rage, excitement, and concern. If you're trying to "evoke" any of these sentiments at any point in a discussion or presentation, speeding up your speech can help.

WHEN YOU WANT TO COMMUNICATE EFFECTIVELY

Fast speech lowers a person's ability to comprehend and follow what the other person is saying!

The more you slow down your speech, the more the listener's understanding will increase.

When you talk fast, you are "Preparing" for miscommunication. So when you have something valuable to say, slow down, be brief it will make sure your message docks correctly.

I guess I finally found my style :p

I know: Who wants to trick you. Speak quickly. Like a politician and a man of advertising.
And who loves you: Speak slowly. So his words can enter your heart.

@fancybrothers Awesome posts sir... I thoroughly concur along with you. Adore it. Upvoted.
