Cloaking technology: Futuristic or realistic?
The first thought that comes to mind when we hear cloaking technology is maybe Harry Potter or some futuristic movie, but do you know that rumors of the existence of this technology has been in existence as far back as three years ago?
Now imagine being able to sneak behind enemy lines and doing so much damage and leaving without anyone being able to see you with their naked eyes.
Of course, the first thing that comes to mind is the military application of such an advanced tech, but how about we explore more about the technology.
The cloaking technology
Basically, a cloaking technology is meant to hide or conceal a wearer or vessel from being seen by the naked eyes.
Now in other to understand how the technology works, we have to understand the visible and invisible spectrum.
Basically, what this means in it's simplest sense is that there are some things you can see, and there are those which you can't see.
The aim of a cloaking technology is to be able manipulate the light spectrum in such a way that visible things can become invisible. Now this sounds impossible from the ordinary sense, but with the understanding of physics, it becomes possible.
Previously, the first attempt at the cloaking technology required materials so thick to cover larger surface areas, but recent advances in physics, especially most recently by a professor at the University of California- San Diego named Kante who came up with a ground breaking research into the cloaking technology and came up with ways to reduce cost and use readily made materials.
Ceramics was the choice material by professor Kante because of it's availability and He claimed that the material will greatly reduce the weight constraint as regards surface area covered by about 1/10 the previously calculated figure.
Of course, after he pitched this idea to the millitary, which they showed great interest, little or no information was given about the research anymore.
The other well known case bordering on the cloaking technology was when the famous car company called Toyota got a patent for a cloaking device they claimed to have perfected.
If we are to believe that, it means that in a few years time, we will be talking about the first generation of invisible cars form the Japanese car maker.
Of course there are many theories as to how cloaking can be achieved, one prominent theory is light manipulation around an object in such a way that the rear is reflected in front.
This method of light manipulation was demonstrated by John Howell and Benjamin Howell using a complicated set up. However the flaw to their design was that for it to work, the person or vessel being cloaked had to be viewed from a single position and anything other than that compromises the cloak.
Now that was a good start in the right direction, but obviously not good enough, the further research doine by Professor Kante and countless others have paved way for the future of the cloaking technology.
Possible disadvantages
- Higher causalities will result from enemies using cloaking technologies
- Without strict rules guiding it's domestic use, the technology could be abused
- Imaging getting hit by a cloaked car and not knowing what to give as an eye witness account

This is a serious physics class am enlightened @ehiboss thanks for the post
Thanks for stopping by
I'm not surprised. I picked interest in invisibility after watching Tommorow Never Dies. Thanks for sharing
Wow, the Bond movie with Halle Berry right
Knowledge is power
I thought it wasnt real
Well looks like it is...lol
Hollywood had spoilt the futuristic technology. Why do I say that? People are quick to see a future where robot would be artificially intelligent as bad. The robots would start killing people, most do not see it could actually be a good thing, a robot firefighter can always die in an inferno. All we do then is build ourselves a new one. A cloaking technology could be useful too. A cloak device could also have a good use case scenario, eg photographing wild animals could be less dangerous as the animal can't see the photographers :)
Great article, I'm a fan of future tech. Gracias.
*Grabs the microphone...now I will write on tech 24/7, *drops the microphone...lol
Lol
The truth is that bad robot concept is a stereotype, just like how the Asian dude is assumed to be a martial artiste or how a timer always stops at 00:01
Yeah, movies after movies depicts this, I watched Ex Machina with same stereotype. A robot with AI betrays the friends, killing some and escaping to the outside world.
This is very good info. I think they are improving already, what came to my mind was the almighty stark's aeroplane in spiderman homecoming 2017. They actually made the body of the plane in such a way that images behind are projected in front, so it seem invisible. But what you described here is a great one i like it
You've watched that movie? That spiderman is so goofy. Lol
Yes oooo, i loved the handshake with friend(that long one) 😀, its a nice one
Funny thing is I've not watched Spiderman: Homecoming
Looooolll, you should oo
Hi! @ehiboss,
Thanks for this interesting development. I get to dig for more info on it. Thanks.
@praise-eu
Please dig more sir
Hmmm...... Thank you so much for this wonderful information.
You are welcome
incredible read thanks a a lot .
will be looking into this more.
your technology post so good plz hep me bcz i lost power on steemit
You probably has violated some rules on steemit
Perhaps you did something wrong?
This is really nice post, Thanks for sharing @ehiboss
