plantbreeding@home #5 - Small setbacks
Dear Steemians,
hello again! I am deeply sorry for being unavailable forquite some time now, but my PhD left me without choice. Those past months were hell and left me without energy to write or complete the articles I have planned to write for you, or give you detailed updates on the plantbreedingathomeproject. This will change now, as I have small amounts of free time again here and there, and therefore can write again. I tried to at least read all the articles that interest me and vote for the great bloggers here on steemit though to show my support for all you great writers out there!

Being away, something great happened without me noticing – I have now over 100 followers! Thank you so much, I am delighted that you liked what I have been writing. Support and a benevolent community are the biggest treasures inblogging, and I appreciate those unfathomably. Thank you so much!
Picture 2: Small, but powerful (in numbers) - plant lice
But now to more important things: Our project! Unfortunately, I have bad news – The plants I tried to get to flower again did not, but died because of a heavy pest infection. This delays everything a bit, as I have to grow new plants for the first crossing. I already started this, as soon as I see seedlings I will post pictures! You can expect a post about the plant family of peppers and the chemistry behind the "hot" feeling while eating them quite soon, maybe even tomorrow, so stay tuned!

Ain't that the truth - welcome back! I hope your research is going well.
Hey dutch,
quite the opposite I am afraid, and the scientific system is quite unforgiving. Thus, immens amounts of pressure and subsequently no free time. But enough of this, I am looking forward to read and contribute in the SteemSTEM and Gridcoin communities again. Although I was unable to write does not mean I was unable to think, and I kept track of the most important developments. This will be fun!
I was sure those plants were full-grown trees by now :)
Hey Vortac,
well, that was my hope - turns out the lice only viewed it as a big buffet! ;) But I did not expect to not have any setbacks, and therefore backup is ready. We will definately do this!
Yesterday I wondered what happened to the plantbreeding@home project and now your post :D thanks for the update.
And I wish you all the best for your research.
Hey grider123,
I wanted to write a short update for quite a while now to show that I stand by what I said, that I am willing and motivated to overlook the project.
And thank you a lot for your good wishes regarding my research! I am more than happy to figure out the truth bit by bit (even if it is through repetition and negative results ;)) but hell, there are timelimits, funding limits and the fact that you cannot publish negative data... And publications are the cowry shells of the scientific world! It is time to have a blockchain for that... ;)
extraordinary post.
