I am assuming that you are a non-native English speaker and that this is a serious question and not a joke.

Uranus is pronounced one of two ways, and both are funny if you like toilet humor.

  1. Your-Anus, the joke here being that anus is the scientific word for your asshole, butthole, cornhole, etc.

  2. Urine-Us, the joke here being that urine is the scientific word for pee, piss, R-Kelly juice, etc.

The University of Maine at Presque Isle has a project they maintain up here in northern Maine where they have a model of the universe that extends for about 40 miles. "The Sun" is a 20'-diameter sphere in the student center. "Mercury" is a tiny marble on a post along Rt. 1 just at the edge of campus. "Earth" is a baseball-sized planet on another stand about a mile or two up the road, etc..

"Uranus" is just off Rt. 1 high on another stand in downtown Bridgewater, Maine...about 25 miles away from UMPI.

To this day, I always point to it, and turning to my wife, I'll say, "I see Uranus up in the sky..." She still laughs, every time.

I think there's something wrong with us. but it's still funny!
