Former Google And Uber Employees Look To Reinvent The Doctor's Office

in #science8 years ago

A new company in San Francisco, known as Forward, is looking to provide a new and futuristic take on the trendy concierge medical practice model in healthcare. The facility is equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic medical tools, as well as an AI system that can take notes for doctors, and it's got a $149 monthly membership fee.

The company was designed by a number of different former employees of corporations like Google, Uber, Facebook, and Palantir.

The former employees admit that currently health practitioners are set-up for failure in the market, some would say that's because of the strict regulations surrounding their industry, and they are looking to provide doctors and patients with a better platform for service in this area. They want to make the healthcare system more convenient for patients, consistent, and predictable.

And they've revolutionized every part of the common healthcare-going experience.

Patients can use a mobile app to book appointments, and some say that the new health clinic feels very much like walking into an Apple store. After signing in, the patients can then proceed to a body scanner that will reveal to them their biometric data, including details like weight, body temperature, height, and more.

It's also able to measure how much oxygen is in their blood and can measure their heart rate.

They've got real-time blood-testing, DNA sequencing technology in order to determine if there are any hereditary health risks to be aware of, they offer 24/hour access to patients, and they'll send your health data and results straight to the mobile phone. Patients also have the option to ask/send follow-up questions to their doctors via messages on the mobile app. It really is a doctor's office of the future, with healthcare professionals working along closely with AI in order to better manage the healthcare needs of patients.

When patients walk into the room to see their healthcare practitioner, they'll immediately see the gigantic touch-screen display that's on the wall.

This display has algorithms that enable it to listen to the conversation that's happening between the patient and the doctor, and it will then extract valuable information from that conversation to make notes from for the doctor. This way the doctor is better able to focus his attention on his or her patient.

Forward will also be providing a number of supplements and other vitamins for sale at a discount to their patients. And it's expected that the price for their services is only going to drop in the future.

Bright minds and technology will rescue us from the insurers. I have 35 yrs of healthcare experience- the future will look nothing like the past and it needs to happen. As a result the nation will be projected forward financially which must occur to deal with preventing and addressing chronic disease and to respond to the aging explosion.

Looks interesting! :)
