Space Weather Daily Update for 22 November, 2017
Space Weather, Mars Ice, Quake Watch
The last 24 hours on the Earth Facing disc shows a small central northern coronal hole coming in. No new plasma filament releases and no sunspots or solar flares.
The solar wind went up, caused a geomagnetic storm and went away. The Planetary K-index is back on-line and shows the rise to red and back down to green. While the geomagnetic storm was brief, it might have caused a few issues.
- BREAKING ATC system failure at Amsterdam, complete system shutdown
- Substation issue in West Jordan, Utah causes power outage
- Substation issue causes a power outage hits nearly 6,700 customers in Appleton, Kimberly
- Blown transformer causes power outage at Kean University in New Jersey. Traps people in elevators.
- Equipment failure causes power outage in Huntington, West Virginia
- Failed underground equipment causes power outage in Murrieta, California
- Squirrel causes power outage at CSI campus in Twin Falls, Idaho. I'm thinking it wasn't the squirrel
- Equipment failure causes power outage in New Orleans, Louisiana.
- Multiple transformers arching causes power outage in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

While we keep an eye on the Near Earth Objects (NEOs) being added to the database, NASA has decided to do some simulations on what we might see if one of those NEOs came a bit too close.
- Simulating Atmospheric Impacts: From Pebble- to Mountain-Size Meteoroids
- Speaking of our crowded near space, here's the latest look. NASA's Near-Earth Science Mission Fleet: March 2017
- Ice on Mars is why landslides are what they are. At least, that's what the scientists believe at this point.
Part of the earthquake prediction models includes ground water.
But, then this brings up questions about the molten center of the Earth and magnetism and things. I feel a visit from @everittdmickey soon.
