Space Weather Daily Update for 14 May, 2018
Star Connection, Pluto, Cosmos
The last 24 hours of the Earth Facing disc shows the three sunspotless bright areas making their turn to start heading off of the disc along with the south of the equator coronal hole. No solar flares and no coronal mass ejections(CME). The Planetary K-index is in stable green levels. The coronal hole winds should arrive in a day or so, but we should start seeing some effects on Earth. Maybe a high 5 or low 6 magnitude quake by Monday night.
Earthquakes and volcanoes of note
- 5.8 magnitude earthquake N of Visokoi Island, South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands
- 5.1 magnitude earthquake on the Southwest Indian Ridge
- 5.1 magnitude earthquake near Pamandzi, Pamandzi, Mayotte -- 3rd and largest one in the past few days.
Space Objects
The airplane-sized Near-Earth Object(NEO) labeled (2010 WC9) has made its way on to the Next 5 NEO list. As you can see, it is listed at passing by with the distance of 126,000 miles. That's very close in astronomical terms.
Other News
- The Reclassification of Asteroids from Planets to Non-Planets. Someone needed to have their intern do some work in order to keep the grant money flowing. Will have to put Pluto back in the books again.

Someone needed to have their intern do some work in order to keep the grant money flowing
which is exactly why government should not financially support science.
the waste of tax money is incredible.
