Human evolution - Homo Ergaster [part.7]

in #science7 years ago

Living in eastern and southern Africa about 2.5-1.7 million years ago, ergasters are separated from erectus (due to a number of differences they have (such as the volume of the brain and the shape of the temple bones, or thinner bones). And compared to erectus, now ergaster is considered to be the ancestor of modern humans. Although some suspect erectus is a descendant of ergaster who migrate out Africa. Allegedly ergaster had lived with habilis. The ergaster name literally means 'worker', this refers to their ability to use stone tools.

Ergaster was first discovered in 1949 in southern Africa, by anthropological discoverer John T Robinson originally given the name Telanthropus capensis, which is now no longer in use. Homo ergaster's own name was first used by Colin Groves and Vratislav Mazák for the findings of the KNM-ER 992 fossil found near Lake Turkana, in 1975. The most comprehensive fossil of Homo ergaster, which once became one of the most complete fossils of early humans found, is fossils KNM-WT 15000, also known as Turkana Boy / Turkana boy (and by Harun Yahya claimed to be 'the fossil of modern man's.

Ergaster allegedly has a height of 1.89 meters, with a brain volume ranging from 700-1000 cc. Has a prominent face, a low forehead, and teeth smaller than habilis. Men are bigger than women, though not as big as the difference in australopithecines. His ability to use stone tools is better than habilis. They are also able to exploit fire.
