Well, Yesterday @Daily-Science discuss about : 10 Unauthorized Animal Stereotypes [part.1], so this time @Daily-Science will discuss about 10 Unauthorized Animal Stereotypes [part.2]

6. Sloth are lazy

Like the Pig who is always the subject of ammunition to throw insults against someone who is considered dirty and greedy, for someone who is considered lazy is also often equated with sloth. comes from The Deadly Sin of Sloth, which means prolonged laziness or "Sluggishness of The Soul". But although Sloth means not fast or slow, with a speed of just 1.8 to 2.4 meters per minute, their inertness serves as a saver for energy, and their visibly less active bodies actually work very hard.

Sloth lives in tropical rainforests. Its sluggish and fur-covered body is the perfect place for algae and mold to grow, it provides perfect green camouflage throughout the sloths body. One of the main predators of the slow sloth is the Harpy Hawk, which has incredible strength and speed for air strikes. Sloth certainly has no chance to defeat the ability of the eagle or other tree predators such as the big cat, Jaguar. So, the sloth uses his camouflage, silence and total stationary silence to make it almost invisible to the predator.

Contrary to what many believe, sloth sleep only about 9.6 hours a day in their wild habitats. When they are stationary in the trees, their stomach and intestines slowly digest the food they've just eaten, sometimes it takes 50 days to absorb all the beneficial nutrients from the leaves that are the main food.

7. Wise Owl

Owls are synonyms or symbols of wisdom and knowledge. We may know from the cartoon stories like "Winnie The Pooh". The cartoon character of the owl depicted wearing a Toga robe suit complete with his hat often appears on elaborate greeting cards and the bespectacled owls are read frequently found in many libraries and bookstores.

In Greek and Roman mythology, owls have always been associated with education, intellectuality and miracles, perhaps this is due to their wide eyes, their serious expression and their ability to see in the dark .However are owls really wise? yes .. not really.

The typical habits of nocturnal creatures like them, their flight which is always in "Stealth" mode makes them seem mysterious and they really have adapted well to hunt small creatures in low light conditions or even pitch darkness. But if we measure the intelligence, owls have smaller brains than their proportional size and they are hard to train than crows, parrots or pigeons. In fact, most owls can not be trained to perform simple tasks.

Interestingly, in India, an owl is considered stupid and brainless, because his habit of sitting silent and staring at the sky with a hollow look. In fact, in Indian, the owl / Owl word is "Oolu" which is also used as a subtle insult meaning "dolt", "fool" or "stupid". A person who hangs out without doing anything useful may be said to be "like an owl".

8. Cow is stupid

Cows are certainly not the first animals that come to mind when talking about intelligence. We imagine them standing in a field with their mouths constantly chewing the grass or wandering around with their flock while waiting for a meal or milking time. We describe "people paraded like cattle" as they pass through a security checkpoint at the airport. There is also an insult by calling someone "like a stupid cow" or "like a cow with his prompted nose".

But vegetarians and animal protection activists have long argued that cows have more feelings and intelligence than we thought before. They may be right, at least an organization says that cows have been observed and studied can develop friendships with other cows, hold grudges and mourn the deaths of one of their friends or when separated from their family and herd.

Researchers from the University of Cambridge found that cattle can not only learn to open the door to get food in return, they also react to their success by showing an increase in heart rate and strong movements, which this is called by researchers an evidence of a similar "Eureka" moment when a man finds or learns something

9. Cats is a Loner

Are you a Cat Person? or Dog Person ?.

Perhaps we often hear the question being asked either for us or for others. Like its stereotypes, cats are aloof, cunning and independent, while dogs are more social, loyal and energetic. But if we have more than one cat pet, we will know that their personality can be very different from each other as it does to humans.

According to a cat-behavior consultant website, Pam Johnson-Bennett, cats are not lonely animals, they are always focused animals. If they do not respond quickly as soon as we talk to them, it's most likely they're just too focus looking for prey or other objects, such as our feet that move from under our blankets or shoelaces.

Cats can show interest by sitting on our laps, on our backs, our chests, beside us, rubbing our heads and bodies into our bodies, gluing our heads to us and licking us. A study in 2013 showed that cats responded to the voice of their owners by moving their heads and ears toward the source of sound, even though the owner was not visible in his view. This finding shows that instead of ignoring humans, cats are more likely to distinguish between their owners and people unknown. Of course this is not surprising for cat owners when their cat runs under the bed when a guest is visiting the owner's house, and they will just come out of hiding and then jump on the lap of the owner when the situation is "safe".

10. Dog is faithful

We have seen many stories, videos or anything about dogs that did not want to leave the grave of the deceased owner, welcomed the owner's return from the office and even ran through the traffic to their friend in order to save his life. Certainly these videos and stories can make our tears drip. But do all dogs deserve the symbol of "human companions"?......

In book The Truth About Dogs, the author Stephen Budiansky says the many licks on the cheek, the nature of loyalty and devotion are a form of reward for a decent shelter with warm fireplaces, comfy beds, abundant food and all the facilities that can be given.

In 2013, a group of researchers from Hungary found that dogs respond to robots in the same way they respond to humans. In fact, given the choice between a sounding robot with the help of the software, a hand with a scented glove for the dog to sniff and ordering the dog toward a place where the food is hidden or a man who offers nothing shows that dogs tend to like robots, he spends more time next to the robot while staring toward the robot's head.
