Ketosis and Parkinson's Disease - William Curtis [New Interview]

in #science7 years ago

Last month I posted about a video of William Curtis, a person who was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in early 2,000 and who is managing his condition by increasing his circulating ketones.

That was a very short video showing William's symptoms before and after taking coconut oil, which contains medium chain triglycerides that rapidly convert to ketones when entering the body.

This is a much lengthier video, an hour long one, in which William discusses in extensive detail the aspects of his condition and how he is using ketones to help it. He did not wean off of medication completely, which is very important to mention!

Additionally, we know that coconut oil contains only a small amount of MCTs and in the past few years there have been many new products developed, including pure MCT oils which contain only medium chain triglycerides of carbon 6 (C6), C8, C10, and C10. Out of these, the most ketogenic is C8.

So, as you might imagine, there is now pure C8 oil on the market. This is known as caprylic acid. I've been testing with this oil as well - mostly for better cognitive function.

There are also ketone salts on the market, but their major drawbacks are that they contain too little beta-hydroxybutyrate and too many salts (this makes them unfeasible).

The future of this are ketone esters - or monoesters. One of them has been researched and developed by Dr. Richard Veech. It's betahydroxybutyrate-1,3-butanediol. Butanediol is not only a 'carrier' for BOHB, but when in the body, it converts into more BOHB.

And William Curtis has been testing this monoester as well. Right now and when it's gonna hit the market, it's going to be very expensive (unfortunately). But I guess that's what happens with many new products entering the market.

But anyway, if you're interested in the subject, please watch the full interview with William Curtis below.

I've read your post and are very glad to see you here

I'm sure that in the future a lot of nowadays disease will be cured with alternative cures.

Is there any published research about this? I had always seen DBS (deep brain stimulation) as the most effective, though invasive,, treatment for Parkinson’s.

Yes, it is. I know I have it somewhere. Give me a few hours and I'll post a link.

I use coconut oil for skin care, it's wonderful, I love it. Also, I use coconut oil when I cook. I'm glad to discover that it improves cognitive functions
