This is a great point which you bring up and is often times overlooked due to the cultural norms of these sky lanterns. I agree, that this is an enormous issue that deserves much more attention due due the ramifications that is has on aquatic wildlife. I hope that more people become aware of this problem and spread the word because biodiversity is vitally important in terms of our survival, as well.
