Hi. Yet another report from the world of advanced drones...
The Federal Polytechnic School in Lausanne, Switzerland hosts one of the most advanced research teams in the world in the field of merging biology and robotics to design future robotic systems.
Adaptive morphology is an emerging design principle. For flying robots, aka drones, adaptive morphology means for example to redesign them bearing in mind that bird's´ wings can change shape and stiffness.
Here is a basic illustration of the concept, in terms of folding:

The most advanced prototype is illustrated here: a drone with variable geometry "feathers":
