Ores and Metals - Copper and Gold

in #science7 years ago

Reaching even further into my collection, we begin to find specific metals and historical items.

Gold

To begin, we have a small bottle of gold shavings. This is more of a souvenir item, and holds no huge value. However, I still find it rather interesting. I actually got this at a trip when I was younger.

Michigan Native Copper

I got this at a local antique shop. The chunks of copper are held in a small tube. This tube is rather scratched up, but the copper itself looks good as can be.

Iron Ore - Taconite Pellets

These were obtained at a rock show a few years ago. The fact that they are iron ore may not be that exciting, and they sure don't look that great, but they serve more as historical collectables than show pieces. It was considered a waste product at first, but once WWII came around and ended, it was needed as the iron shortage came at the same time.

Thanks, and hope you enjoyed the photos!
