Interesting facts and yes exactly! I often think about self esteem and I totally agree with what you just wrote,

"Psychology shows that we do this because we want to be more valuable and competent than we are in reality, to keep our self-esteem at an optimum lever."

I Have seen many whose self esteem was low but in order to raise they do wonders!
