"Do Not Miss the Orionid Meteor Shower This Month"

This month of October, specifically this weekend is very exciting as we are going to observe again the Orionid meteor shower. The Orionid meteor shower is forecasted to be at its peak this coming October 20 – 21 and the said yearly event is going to be prolific in the dawn of October 21st. Therefore, the best time to observe this occurrence is during after midnight of October 20. Usually, 20 to 30 meteors are going to be visible per hour during this event.

According to Wikipedia, the Orionid meteor shower is the most prolific meteor shower associated with Halley's Comet. The particles of this meteor shower come from the Comet Halley debris after it makes its way around the sun leaving trails of comet crumbs. The event is sometimes shortened to Orionid. Its name comes from the constellation Orion as its radiant lies in there. The said meteor shower usually happened annually on the late days of October.

According to history of this comment based on Wikipedia,

The Orionid meteor shower is produced by the well-known Halley's Comet, which was named after the astronomer Edmund Halley and last passed through the inner solar system in 1986 on its 75- to 76-year orbit. When the comet passes through the solar system, the sun sublimates some of the ice, allowing rock particles to break away from the comet. These particles continue on the comet's trajectory and appear as meteors ("falling stars") when they pass through Earth's upper atmosphere.

This event is 1 of the 2 meteor showers which are associated with the Comet Halley. The first meteor shower, the Eta Aquariid meteor shower occurs every year in the month of May. According to some astronomers’ prediction, the Orionid meteor shower will be perfectly observed during the dawn of October 21 as there will be no moonlight to contend it.

One does not need high tech equipment to observe the said event. Orionid meteors are also visible anywhere from the Earth and can be seen anywhere across the sky. So grab your friends and loved ones to watch and enjoy the event together. Or tell me in the comment section who are you going to watch it with and what are your thoughts about this coming event.
