A program I wrote to help my cat play video games
I love playing video games, and my cat loves getting on the keyboard.
So I wrote a small program to remap my keyboard buttons to be more cat-friendly for games.
Now kitty can play video games too :)
Here's a link to the source code: http://pastebin.com/LiMcqRZY
This code can be compiled or run as a script with AHK from AutoHotKey.com (runs on Windows, but the code could be re-written for Mac or Linux)
I'm releasing this code free and open-source under the MIT software license because I believe that all cat & game lovers might benefit from it.
Basically, it makes all the buttons at the top of the keyboard send the signal for the W key because that's the forward movement button in most games. Likewise all the buttons on the left side of the keyboard get remapped to the S key and all the buttons on the right side of the keyboard get remapped to the letter D. This is for the WASD movement buttons in video games. Oh, and the Spacebar becomes the letter S (for backwards in games).
To close the program just right-click on its tray icon and choose exit.
If this becomes popular then I might update the code with new features and improvements. Let me know if you have any suggestions or ideas that you would like to see added, like maybe rotating the keyboard 90 degrees, or adding more buttons for jumping and stuff like that. Let me know what you think.
On a side note, my cat seems to get on the keyboard more often now. Also, she's begun touching the monitor with her paws more. I think she's experimenting with what she can do to see how it all works.
Thanks a lot but I prefer mining =・ω・=
good idea
Nice post 😁
