Yeah, I always had mixed feelings about this. I never understood why any outcome is good, since whatever happens, someone will die. Either the predator goes hungry and dies, or it kills another animal and eats it. No two ways about it. At this juncture I think it would behoove the narrator to suddenly go off into philosophizing about the problem of evil and what this means about the existence of god! Or his nature! Yeah, make god the bad guy!
