Eolo: the electric car that recharges with wind energy

in #science7 years ago

On innovations that are made for electric cars, there are several that focus on finding the most efficient way to recharge the batteries while the car is running.

An example is the recharge from the regenerative braking or electric car prototypes that incorporate solar panels in its structure.

Currently one of the most efficient electricity seems to be recovered from the kinetic given to stop the electric car. But it is a possibility that Colombia has developed a new, more efficient system, would also be incorporated in the electric car and would take advantage of the wind and convert it into electricity.

Javier Roldán, inventor of the system, along with the Industrial Corporation Minuto de Dios and EOLO project designers are those who have developed the first prototype electric car that recharges from wind energy. The proposal could be a prelude to what we would see in the future.

The wind system is simple and effective. This is a wind turbine housed in the inside of the electric car. The same as they are moved by the air impinging on the front of the vehicle, transforming the movement into electrical energy. The autonomy of the prototype is 100 kilometers and a top speed of 100 kilometers per hour.

The electric car Eolo is an example of the research being done in the field of sustainable mobility. It is also a reflection of how important innovations can occur in countries that are believed to be unrelated to these new technologies.
