2 Futuristic Books That Blew Me Away

I don't like many books. But when I find something I like it will consume me until I finish it. You know... no food, sleep or socialising until you finish.

These are two books that I love and that blew me away.

The Oddfits by Tiffany Tsao

Eight-year-old Murgatroyd Floyd doesn’t fit in—not as a blue-eyed blonde living in Singapore, not in school, and certainly not with his aloof expatriate parents, who seem determined to make his life even harder. Unbeknownst to him, there’s a reason why he’s always the odd boy out: he is an Oddfit, a rare type of human with access to the More Known World, a land invisible to most people. Yet unfortunate circumstances keep Murgatroyd stranded in the Known World, bumbling through life with the feeling that an extraordinary something is waiting for him just beyond reach.

Seventeen years later, that something finally arrives when a secret organization dedicated to exploring the More Known World invites Murgatroyd on a mission. But as the consummate loser begins to grow into the Oddfit he was meant to be, the Known World becomes bent on exterminating him. For once in his underachieving life, will Murgatroyd Floyd exceed expectations and outsmart those trying to thwart his stupendous destiny?

Why I loved it

It got to the core of what it's like to be an outsider in the world, and feeling like an alien. It gave me hope about what the future might hold in terms of different worlds and shifts in consciousness. Thoroughly enjoyable and I can't wait for the follow up.

End of Secrets by Ryan Quinn

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00JQS1TJI/

Though her specialty is foreign cyberterrorism, CIA agent Kera Mersal finds herself plunged into a bizarre domestic case. Singers, writers, and artists are disappearing, leaving no trace in a world where everyone leaves a digital footprint. Posing as a journalist, Kera attempts to track the artists’ last-known movements.

On a hunt that takes her from the underground art scene to a rogue domestic spying program, Kera finds her investigation on a deadly collision course with ONE Corp., the world’s largest multimedia conglomerate. As she’s drawn deeper into the investigation, she discovers that an enigmatic young ad exec, a wealthy playboy, and a mysterious website may connect the missing artists and ONE’s growing power. And with each discovery comes confirmation of a terrifying truth—no one’s secrets are safe.

A smartly suspenseful and timely thriller, End of Secrets dives into the depths of our culture’s two most relentless obsessions: entertainment and profit.

Why I loved it

This book was a cyber-thriller. It was about how the government/corporate machine develops technologies to dominate people's lives. Then countering that - how a few bright genius in the artistic and media worlds can hijack the system. I think this would be really interesting to Steemians and people into cryptocurrencies. I couldn't put it down.

Cool. I love Amazon books, especially for Kindle. You'd be truly shocked at how many free books they have that kick @$$ (raving reviews), and all you need is the Kindle app for your phone or tablet, which also is a kick @$$ book reading program. Saves bookmarks across devices, and much more.
