What does school really teach you?

They say the key to the new world is getting educated. The problem is that the current school system is stuck in the industrial age. We are in the information age and education is more important than ever before. But a important question should be asked:

• “Will going to school prepare me financially for a changing world“?
• “Do I learn how money really works”?
• “Am I going to be able to survive in the 21th centuty“?

Those are simple questions one should ask himself, but there simpleness doesn’t negate their importance. The schools doesn’t follow the modern pace of change. Let’s be honest the world is changing too rapidly.

In the industrial age, all you needed to be thriving was the following two types of education:

• Academic education: The skill to read, write, and solve basic mathematical problem.
• Professional education: Education to earn money being productive. For example, nurse, judge, accountant, and so on.

In the information age, we need the following three types of education:

• Academic
• Professional
• Financial

Yet the answer to: why is there not any financial education in school is still a mystery.
The vast majority of the population want a steady paycheck and a pension. However those with a solid financial education will not want to cling to job security. The people who understand the banking system will not save money. They know their house is not an asset, but a liability. If they would understand inflation, they would not try to live below their means. Rather than get out of debt, they would learn how to use debt to be wealthier.

Few people are questioning how this education system was formed and how it came to be. Someone who has a steady paycheck cannot teach you how to have the money work for you. A teacher will be able to teach you how to teach effectively and that’s about it. The best person to learn from is the one who’s doing it and successful at it.
