snow-capped mountains

I was sound asleep when the flight attendant gently woke me, saying,
"Look outside—it’s the snow-capped mountains!"

Having done my research in advance, I knew that sitting on the left side of the plane during a flight to Xinjiang offered the best chance to catch a glimpse of the majestic peaks.
As soon as I boarded, I asked the attendant how long it would take before we reached the snowy mountains. True to her word, she made a point to come over and let me know when the view appeared.
The service on China Southern Airlines is truly exceptional.
