One of the many stories about ghosts on the side of the road, happens since the mid-twentieth century on an old highway in Venezuela, which connects the capital of Caracas with the city of La Guaira, located on the coast.

According to popular belief, it is the spirit of a young woman named María José Cárdenas, who was a young woman from Caracas, who during the fifties, spent her weekends on Venezuelan beaches, on which one day she met a boy, who lived on that coast.

After a while they decided to get married, and since Maria had no family, the couple planned a simple ceremony, in the middle of the beach where they met.

On the day of the wedding, dressed as a bride, María took a taxi that would take her from Caracas to the coastal town of La Guaira, where the wedding would take place. However, halfway along the road the car broke down, leaving the anxious girlfriend without transportation.

They say that Maria got out of the taxi, and began to ask the travelers to take her. Finally a driver stopped and invited her to go up. Unfortunately for the future wife, the driver was drunk, which is why in one of the most dangerous curves of this Venezuelan highway he lost control, falling into the abyss, which ended his life and that of the young girl.
Since then - according to the drivers - late at night you can see "The Bride of the Road" asking the passing cars, please take her to the coastal town, to get married.

They say that the drivers who stop, and let her get into her car, feel a pleasant smell of jasmines and during the trip they get pledged of the beauty of the mysterious bride, until they reach a dangerous curve, and the woman exclaims
"In this curve I killed myself", before disappearing.

Such an event causes drivers to lose control of the vehicle. However, according to popular belief, the ghost of the bride only takes revenge on drunk drivers, while those who drive under her five senses saves them, leaving her bouquet in the seat of the car, where she was sitting.
