SCARY STORIES gets a new director

André Øvredal, who brought us The Autopsy of Jane Doe, has taken over directing duties of CBS Films’ Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, which was originally going to be done by Guillermo del Toro. Production kicks off next summer, and the film will follow a small group of teenagers who investigate a series of strange and horrific murders in their tiny town.

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is being written by The Lego Movie‘s Kevin and Dan Hageman, who are basing the film on the series of books written by Alvin Schwartz.
