Tracing the Watergate Scandal Trails
Do not underestimate the work of journalists. The coverage of reporters can bring down a president from his power.

That's what happened to Richard Nixon, the 37th president of the United States. And he became the first American president to resign in 1972 ( I was born in 1972).

It was all because of the Watergate scandal that the young Washington Post reporter Bob Woorwards and his friend Carl Bernstein had unraveled. Their investigative coverage marks the history of the rise of investigative journalism. The Washington Post received the prestigious Pulitzer award in 1974.

The story of their coverage was filmed under the title All The President's Men we often watch for investigative journalism learning.

I was fortunate to get to the office of The Washington Post in the United States in 2012 and see the work of Bob and Carl. Of course Bob was no longer there because he died in 1994. But his trace of persistence still lingered in The Post's office and spread all over the world.[]

Menelusuri Jejak Skandal Watergate
Jangan meremehkan kerja jurnalis.

Liputan investigasi mereka menjadi penanda sejarah munculnya jurnalisme investigasi. Washington Post mendapatkan penghargaan bergengsi Pulitzer tahun 1974.

Kisah liputan mereka sampai difilmkan dengan judul All The President's Men yang sering kami tonton untuk belajar jurnalisme investigasi.

I feel like investigative journalism is disappearing and that is so sad. The Watergate scandal was driven by investigative journalism. Now journalism has been more focused on opinion and articles without sources. I teach media and it is so hard to discuss integrity when everything the students see lacks it.

I have been enjoying the James O'keefe videos because it reminds me of the undercover hard hitting journalist that we've been lacking, but I question his motives. If he is bipartisan and would do the same stories against all political affiliations then he is a hero, if he picked a side and is creating videos to get people to see only that side, then he is just like everyone else.

Hopefully, the MSM will be exposed and we will get journalists who will find corruption like they did with the Watergate scandal and the world will be a better place.

I agree with you. Less coverage of current investigations due to more talking news and short stories that are facts, weak on confirmation, and lack of data. Online media, I think influenced the development of investigative journalism. People are now more happy to read a short news.

However, investigative journalism remains in demand. Amid the rapid burst of information or tsunami information, investigative journalism remains a diamond in the world of journalism.
