Paypal $2300 Chargeback a Scam?

in #scammed7 years ago (edited)

Good morning felow Steemians. So this morning I wake up to ship a few items I sold yesterday on eBay & when I went to purchase a shipping label I got an error:

So I go to Paypal to see whats going on & I find this, a $2300 chargeback, Paypal snatched up what I had & I stood with a -$1533 negative balance:

So heres how it started, on the 1st of June I sold an item for $2300 (bought me some bitcoin), a medical item which I usually won't ship because it's approx. 100lbs. but the lady who purchased said it was for her brother who was actually dying & he really needed it asap, so me being the nice guy that I am I told her to purchase a Fedex label, send it to me & I will take care of it....

So I received the label yesterday, packed it up & called Fedex for pick-up today. Since all was ready just to be picked up by Fedex I marked the item shipped. I'm thinking that the person thought I had already sent it & made the chargeback, the thing is that Fedex doesn't pick up until 12 noon today (which I will be cancelling by the way).

But this just makes me wonder, was she trying to scam me?

I think someone should make something similar to Paypal but using the blockchain where their would be less scamming. Not sure how to put it but I know it can happen, just as they came up with Steemit & it will eventually crush Facebook we need a new platform to crush all these scams happenning through Paypal.

Luckily I did not send it because I didn't even think of writing down or taking a picture of the Fedex label/tracking #.

So I just wanted to share this mornings cup of tea with you all, maybe someone has a great idea to put to work here....

Yeah I feel like the connection between those two sites are just too vulnerable to use for making sales online. It's no wonder Amaz has grown so much these days
