[Potential Scam] Mogul Your Invisible Empire - In Depth Look

in #scam7 years ago

So yesterday @matttrainer, a new face here on steemit announced that he would be launching a game called Mogul. This drew quite a large amount of attention due to shares from @stan and @michaelx and because it was listed #1 on the promoted posts page. In this post, I'd like to give an in-depth look into Matt's business and give you some documents I found in various government databases.

So first let's jump in and cover the basic indicators that this may have been a fraud. A quick Google search leads to a mix of results calling Matt a scam and coverage of his previous lawsuits. Its interesting that someone who claims to be such as king of SEO is unable to control the search results for his own name.

The Scam Report page contains an article from a previous customer of Matt who claims that he ended up paying over $20,000 for absolutely nothing he was promised in return.

I learned about Matt Trainer from a Greg Davis event. Matt pitched a program he called the $100 million dollar exit. The idea was to build an email business that would generate hundreds of thousands of dollars a month within 90 days and sell it in 18-24 months for millions of dollars. We were told we would have daily access to him and could reach him anytime via phone or skype. We were also told only 15-20 people would be in this group. We were told this was a long term business, but we would begin making money in 30 days and be making up to $100,000 a month in 90 days if we hustled.

Matt has you wire him the money. He does this because wire is guaranteed money and if there is a problem you can’t get your money back.

Once I sent the money that is when it was all downhill. For the first 90 days, Matt was not available. He gave us all access to old courses about solo ads, facebook fan pages and other click bank type stuff. This was his way to delay the actual training for the course we paid money for (email marketing).

Finally when we began uploading leads and emailing, everyone lost ALL their accounts including Matt. Nobody at this point after 7 months has made a single dollar and have spent over $20,000 in expenses. Even Matt announced on a webinar that he hadn’t made a single dollar (except the $450,000 we paid for this coaching lol.)

So clearly there is something fishy going on here, but some might argue that Matt has simply turned over a new leaf, and decided to do the right thing and help people now. Well, let's look at Consumer Reality Services his new business.

For reference in the following paragraphs here are the Articles of Organization and the Statement of Information that are publically available from the state of Californias Division of Corporations website. For those who do not want to use a PDF, I've included photos below.

You will notice that both documents make extensive reference to the address 8605 Santa Monica Blvd. Suite 13160 which actually belongs to Earth Class Mail, a company that allows individuals to rent personal mailboxes, usually called a virtual address company. While there is technically nothing wrong with someone using a rented mailbox as their street address, when they are requesting that customers pay up to $50,000 for pre-release training some might expect more.

The other address listed, 333 South Hope Street, Floor 16, is for David Revelt the companies registered agent. For those who are uneducated in this field, it should be noted that typically the registered agent has nothing to do with day-to-day operations of the business, and it's likely that David is completely unaware of Matts previous customers and business dealings.

In the Statement of Information, we can also find that Matt has affiliations with 4 other businesses: Delphi Investors, LP, Leprechaun Marketing, LLC, Brackmann Psyschological, and Demand Response LLC. All of which have the exactly the same address listed as Consumer Reality Services, LLC. During my research, I was unable to find any additional information on the Califonia Division of Corporations database about these companies, however, you are free to look further into them if you would like.

Another interesting characteristic of these documents is what's missing from them: Matt Trainer. Nowhere in the companies, public documents does the name Matthew Trainer ever appear. He is not listed as a registered agent, nor a manager, nor a member. There is, however, a man named Charles Galvin listed there. Interestingly Charles address is also 8605 Santa Monica Blvd. Suite 13160 which is the same address as all of the other previously listed businesses and the same address which I showed you was actually an Earth Class Mail office. All I can say is that it must be difficult to live in a mailbox alongside 5 different businesses.

Finally, I am not going to say that Mogul is or is not a scam, instead, I have provided you with the evidence and it is up to you to make a decision.
