RE: Warning!!! Be careful of Scams in Steemit : Wallet Scams
Rule #1: Keep all your steem in SP.
This prevents anyone from taking more than 1/13th your money (presuming you log in regularly). Also, it helps the entire system to leave Steem in SP.
Rule #2: Never forget Rule #1.
Thanks for the 411 on these scams @charles1....it is crucial we get the word out about them.
Good point @taskmaster4450 , I agree with you...
I have a small amount of my steem in STEEM. I need it there to pay for delegated sp when I lease it. Are you saying this is less safe than keeping it in sp? I was thinking I would keep about 30 STEEM at all times - not a lot, I know, but I'm a minnow!
I wouldnt worry too much about 30 Steem since you are talking about $30 or so.
The point is to protect your account by using your posting pass code and not the main password.
Keeping Steem in SP makes it harder is someone does get into your account. Of course, if they only get a hold of your posting key, they cannot move any money anyway. That is why it is important to protect the account.
Hey no worries...us minnows have to look out for each other.
lol - It's a minefield! I do not see myself giving out my key to anyone, but never say never...
I didnt mean to imply giving it out as in freely giving.
What I meant is there are a lot of scammers who set up sites that can nail people by making it look like Steem.....it is a scary world out there and we all need to protect ourselves and each other.
Oh! I did not get that part! That is bad. Anyone can fall for that without thinking a thing of it if the screen looks right. I check url's usually and I will be extra diligent now.
