Beware! Employment Scam: Purchasing & Forwarding Agent

I wanted to share this with everyone so that they can be aware that this sort of job offer is a scam.

Here's How I Know It's Fraudulent

I have never heard of this company which, by itself, doesn't mean anything and I didn't apply with them.
I wouldn't have applied for this job because I have no experience in purchasing and, while I was recently a USPS mail carrier, that doesn't qualify me for this job.
The name given, "Nikko Deering" does not match the email address in any way. It doesn't have to but most businesses will use the person's name as part of the address or, more generically, a department name.
The address for the business is provided by AOL (America Online). Most businesses don't use AOL, Gmail, Hotmail, Livemail, Hushmail and others for their email - they buy the ability to use their company name, like [email protected].
Although the body of the email says to email a response to [email protected], if you press "reply" it will send a reply to the actual email address it was sent from. This suggests that the criminal doesn't want responses going back to the hacked email address but couldn't, or doesn't know how to, alter the "reply-to" information.
The roman numeral II after my last name is incorrectly shown as "Ii". This demonstrates that the letter was created by a program that follows standard capitalization of proper nouns, but doesn't understand suffixes like roman numerals, Sr., etc.
The letter doesn't say how the criminal found out about me, or why I qualify for the job.
The job position is listed as P & F Agent/purchasing And Forwarding Agent in the introduction.
I am not asked any questions, nor do they request any information from me, such as my resume.
The job title and abbreviation are incorrectly presented. It should be: "Purchasing and Forwarding Agent (P & F Agent)".
The fact that the next paragraph, if you want to call it that, asserts the integrity of "Merchandise Assistance and Fulfillment Inc" is a strong indicator of a lie. Companies with a good reputation don't need to make such assertions, and making a statement of trustworthiness is a common tactic used by liars and con artists.
The email gives no phone number or address for the company.
A quick online search fails to turn up this company, despite the fact that one job requirement is Internet access.
The 3rd paragraph uses the exact same job title, instead of using just the introduced abbreviation, "P & F Agent". This shows that the letter may have been filled by a program or by cut-and-paste.
The use of "posture" in the 4th paragraph suggests that the criminal was not raised in a country where English is the primary language.
"...offers extremely fast employment development plus lots of rewards" incentives the offer to make you want to respond quickly so that they can pull you in with promises of advancement and bonuses.
"PC" (personal computer) is incorrectly capitalized as "Pc".
There is no sign-off.
Finally, if you go to careerusahub.com, you'll hit a wall, so to speak. The page shows an office setting and the only text is "Career USA Hub: Job Search Services" plus two buttons for subscribing and their privacy policy.
- The fact that you cannot access other pages, learn more about the company, search for jobs or do ANYTHING via a menu of any kind reeks of a scam.
- Subscribing only has you put in your email address, which you enter in a pop-up. I have subscribed to many online job sites but none of them only ask for this information. They usually want several pieces of information, if not your resume.
- The only link in the privacy policy, which appears as a pop-up is to HR.
- No address, phone or other identifying information is provided.

I like this scam! It's very easy to identify and requires minimal research because of its low sophistication. That makes it easier for people to avoid. Thank you, idiot criminal(s)!

How Is This a Scam?

You may be purchasing things that the criminal requests and then sending them to people, all using your own money. At the appointed pay date, you will either get nothing, or you'll get a check that bounces. Worse yet, they may make the check out for more than you were supposed to get and then request that you send back the excess, possibly minus a bonus for your trouble. They will insist that the money be sent by wire service, or that you must purchase gift cards (like for Microsoft) and send them in the mail. Before to long, you'll get a notice from the bank that your paycheck has bounced. The criminal will then make excuses to keep you going as long as possible, in the hopes of doing it again.

Ultimately, you will have lost all the money you spent on purchasing, packages, shipping, handling, and other SOHO expenses, as well as the money you sent by wire or as gift cards, and your salary, too.
