A Fake Twitter Account is Impersonating Us: We Don't Have An ICO or Airdrop Now, Don't Send ETH

We have discovered a fake Twitter account which is impersonating our official @ONOsocial Twitter account.

Here you can see the scam they are running by this fake account, in an attempt to get users to send them ETH:

Many people have helped to report this fake account and we want to thank them for helping us.

The fake account was very crafty because they use a capital letter “i” at the end of “socia” so that it appears to look like the word “social”. Here’s what it looks like when you write it with a capital letter ‘i”: sociaI. So now compare that with the lowercase letter ‘l”: social. It’s very similar and can trick people.

It’s extremely tricky. If you’re on Twitter, feel free to report this account as impersonating us, as we would appreciate your help.

What we want all our users, friends, investors and the public to know is that we will never ask you to send ETH or any other cryptocurrency to us.

We have no ICO and we don’t have an airdrop either now.

The ONO team is discussing the future possibility of an airdrop, but nothing has been decided and we would never ask users to send ETH or any other cryptocurrency to us. We are looking at the best and most respectful way to do things, as so if we decided to do an airdrop we would consult the dev teams of Everipedia or other well-respected EOS devs and we would never ask users to send us any cryptocurrency.

Do not EVER send anyone or any company your ETH or any other cryptocurrency, in the hopes of getting ONOTs, or any other coin. And never send your private key to anyone under any circumstances.

Let us just repeat this: we will NEVER ask you to send us ETH or any other cryptocurrency. We don’t have a current airdrop, and we don’t have an ICO either. We are a social media dApp, and we are growing our social community fabric now, as people are our top priority.

The ONO team is working very hard to fix the bugs and other technical issues that have cropped up in the first version of the ONO dApp. We appreciate your continued support, patience and trust. We want to give our users the best experience and we are determined to do this for people.
