BItcoin first 2mb block has been mined-segwit style

ViaBTC has mined 2.1 mb block all bc of segwit. Segwit is a block increase in a form of a soft fork thus giving bigger blocks without requiring consensus.
What is Segwit?(segwit rules!)=https://99bitcoins.com/what-is-segwit-segregated-witness/

How segwit is actually a big block increase= https://steemit.com/bitcoin/@sames/how-segwit-is-actually-a-big-block-increase

Segwit removes information that's normally included in a Bitcoin transaction. A block can't actually hold more than 1mb, but holds more txs within that 1 mb cuz txs are smaller. Thus a larger theoretical size...this is why "weight" is used a lot to explain txs in a block Just see the two link above for more info!!!

So the path to 4 mb with segwit is coming with more segwit use, the bigger the block gets thus 4 mb blocks are actually looking more like a possibility than theory. Why? Only 10% of transactions use segwit and we got 2mb with only 10% so at min we can expect getting more frequent 2mb blocks with more segwit use.

In fact a couple of big block were mined!
1,000,000 bytes= 1mb

The funniest thing I found about this is that it was first mined by viabtc the people who "made" bitcoin cash and said that segwit won't go over 1.5 mb.

And just in time too! LN is coming really soon, dev is coming faster than expected and may come end of february to end of March.

And best of all Core is finalizing segwit aaka the bech32 segwit address.
bech32 transactions are about 10% smaller with the power of segwit. Bec 32 is backward compatibility so older non bech32 can send bitcoin to bech 32 address.
It basically an even better segwit and that coming March just in time for LN.

Schoor signature is also being worked on.
It basically increase efficiency by 25% on chain. This is a bad analogy but it kinda like onchain batching.

Did you know that bitcoin has smart contracts now without clogging up the main chain!!!

Did you know that bitcoin pow is somewhat actually green:
https://steemit.com/mining/@sames/bitcoin-mining-pow-the-truth
Basically since most energy produced is usually lost( due to the fact energy can't be stored efficiently or storing energy costs more than making more energy itself ) bitcoin mining gives another use for this energy preventing it from being wasted and giving it value. It also will force miners to use renewable resource because nonrenewable resource will keep on getting expensive. In fact here are already solar bitcoin farms. Yes not the best but the stats saying bitcoin mining is completely wasteful is not true.
