The world asks for a signal
The demand for a signal
(Mr. 8.11-13, Lk.12.54-56)
16 The Pharisees and the Sadducees came to tempt him, and they asked him to show them a sign from heaven.
2 But he answered and said to them, "When it is dark, you say, Good weather; because the sky has flushes.
3 And in the morning: Today there will be a tempest; because the sky is cloudy. Hypocrites! that you know how to distinguish the aspect of the sky, but the signs of the times you can not!
4 The evil and adulterous generation demands a sign; but a sign will not be given, but the sign of the prophet Jonah. And leaving them, he left.
Most people in the world ignore the word of God and are always looking for signs to believe. It is the case of the history that we find in this text, the Pharisees and the Sadducees came to Jesus to tempt him, and they asked him to show them a sign from heaven for them to believe. But our God is not God who allows himself to be manipulated, because, He knew that it was another evidence of the blindness and opposition of the religious leaders, it is the demand to Jesus so that he could unfold his supernatural powers, in order to be accredited as well as the messiah. They had already witnessed many of those signs. The problem was not the absence of them, but their own disbelief before God. Later, they rejected even the greatest of all signs, that of the resurrection
The Pharisees asked for a sign, saw it and did not believe
Men today also ask for a sign to believe
There are currently groups of Christians around the world preaching Jesus Christ, but neither do they believe.
For there is evidence that Jesus Christ is real and transforms the world for salvation and eternal life.
The Pharisees and Sadducees knew how to interpret the signs of time, but they were ignorant as to the signs of the times, that is, the fulfillment of the kingdom in the person of Jesus.
Today also as in antiquity, many are asking for signs like Thomas, but no more signal will be given than that of Jonah.
Just as Jonah was a sign for the inhabitants of Nineveh, so the son of man will be for this generation (Luke 11:30).
Blessed are those who hear the words of this book and believe.
