A missionary church God's desire for his people
The missionary church of antiquity began in Antioquia with the first missionary journey of the apostle Paul. The young church had experienced a remarkable growth in number and power. In it a variety of ministries given by the Holy Spirit was observed. There were some prophets who through the spiritual anointing gave the congregation messages of edification exhortation and consolation. Others ministered as teachers instructing believers according to the written word of God and also in the sayings of Jesus preserved until then orally.
This is how a missionary church works!
Bernabé had been sent to Antioquia by the church of Jerusalem. Very soon he joined Saulo de Tarso in the task of teaching the church. Together they worked intensely in that pagan city.
Antioquia was a very beautiful city, but unfortunately it had a rather bad moral reputation. So much was the immorality in that place that a proverbial refrain and symbol of filth became the term "daphne morality". However, despite the corruption in Antioquia, it was there that the first missionary church was established, which served as the base and starting point for Pablo's three missionary journeys.
In these moments we live in a world like old Antioquia and we need missionaries to preach to Jesus Christ for salvation.
The power and influence of a church can not always be attributed to a large and strong membership, to the perfection of its liturgy to architectural impressionism or material prosperity.
The strength of a church is generated in the practice of winning souls, instructing believers and sending workers to carry the Gospel of Jesus. so that the members of the church are sensitive to the will of God and to the direction of the holy spirit for this task there must be a constant and deep relationship with Christ.
The church of Antioquia responded positively to the spirit of God. That was the reason why it came to become the center of operations of Christianity among the Gentiles and of world evangelism.
Excellent meditation @xioran, the holy spirit has given the church a diversity of gifts in order to perfect the saints for the work of the ministry for the building of the body of Christ and trains his people to direct it to new fields for the expansion of the gospel, that is, to turn it into a missionary church committed to the work of God.
