The spiritual war that the children of God face every day demands a special pledge that allows them to fight and defend themselves from the adversary. Spiritual warfare is not in the natural field, it is not against flesh or blood, that is, it is not against man, but against those demonic spiritual forces that operate in the children of disobedience.

We need a garment and not clothes to fight on the spiritual plane.
Many believers leave their homes unprepared because they do not dress properly for spiritual combat. Therefore, our first prayer before getting up should include a gradual, step-by-step application of all of God's armor.

First we stay with the belt of truth. Just as a leather apron protected the Roman soldier's abdomen, our protective girdle is the truth of who we are in Christ: saints dressed in supernatural power by the Spirit of God, who dwells within us. Whenever difficult situations arise, we can repel the temptation to sin or live on emotions, whether of anger, fear or discontent, and instead we can react in a way that honors God.

The preparation of the gospel of peace helps us stand firm. The combat sandals of the Romans had thick soles and iron studs that allowed the soldier to anchor on the ground and remain fixed. No matter how violently the enemy attacks us, we can remain firmly planted in the knowledge of who we are in Christ: redeemed saints and children of the living God, with an important message to share with the lost.

The shield of faith is not a small or optional part of the armor, it is a full-body safeguard that represents the protection of Christ against all that the enemy can throw at us. With full confidence in Christ, we face every battle, knowing that He will give us victory.

The faith in the grace of God that was shown on the cross brought us salvation, the point of exchange of our old sinful man for a new and eternal life in the Lord Jesus. Consequently, with the helmet of salvation we are putting in the mind of Christ, which gives us insight and wisdom.

Finally, we wield the sword of the Spirit that is the Word of God, so that we can fight the enemy's lies with the truth and the promises of the Scriptures.

Knowing exactly what we are going to face each day, the Lord has provided in his grace the perfect team we need to face all our challenges. Therefore, make sure you dress appropriately for battle.
