"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and give sight to the blind, to set the oppressed free "
Luke 4:18 (New International Version)

The Lord Jesus was clear about his call. From a young age he understood that it was convenient for him to be in the business of his Father (Luke 2:49). He was focused and diligent in seeking the will of God. His call began with this verse, in which he found in the scriptures one of the prophecies that had been said about him (Isaiah 61). His first ministerial address began with "the Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor."

The Spirit of God was on him with a specific purpose, to announce good news. To everyone who was broken, with wounds in the soul, with not very decent pasts, with little sanctity, in search of true love, with illnesses. For all of them he came to earth. And during his stay he dedicated himself to announcing that He had brought good news to their lives. He who lived in darkness would no longer have to do it because He himself was the light. He came to announce to those who were tormented by demons that he was infinitely powerful and had come to give them rest. He announced to those women who had been mistreated and belittled that he knew their true worth and that they no longer had to sell their bodies, but to sanctify themselves and embrace their true identity. That same task of announcing good news has been entrusted to us. And just as the Lord Jesus has been anointed with the Spirit of God to do it (Acts 1: 8).

Continue the task that Jesus came to do to this world, announce good news. Proclaim freedom to the captives in your home, work, school and everywhere. Be the light of the world, the salt of the earth. It brings good news to those who have been beaten by life. Like Jesus, also be clear about your call and remember that you have been anointed for it.

Make everywhere you are an area of good news.
