The Scripture says that John leaned on the breast of Jesus. How wonderful it would be for him to hear every heartbeat of that heart so full of love for men! This is how John learned about the love of God. We call him the apostle of love. We see it in his epistles, everything that speaks is love. John, understanding the immense love of God, said on one occasion:

"For God so loved us that he gave his only son so that everyone who believes in him may not be lost but may have eternal life." John 3:16.
