Conversion is a profound change of the mind and heart. The one who becomes realizes that something must change in his life.
When John prepared the way for the arrival of our Lord Jesus Christ, he did it through "repentance" and the public preaching of Jesus began with a call to conversion
Jesus announced the inauguration of a new era of salvation, to enter into which repentance and belief in the gospel
were prerequisites
Repenting and believing in the gospel is simply following Jesus, changing your life, attitudes, choices, and behavior. It means having a different life from the one I had been practicing.
The gospel is good news of salvation, the one who accepts to live the gospel of Jesus Christ lives a good and saving life.
The ministry of Jesus did not begin until he received his "anointing" - as messiah: The power that came through the descent of the holy spirit upon him qualified him for the work he would have to face and fulfill to save humanity.
Jesus lived a sinless life, he did not try to start his ministry without first counting on the power of the Holy Spirit, he insisted that John baptize him, not because of repentance, but because he knew that the Holy Spirit would come upon Him at that moment.
Likewise Christians have to seek the anointing of the Holy Spirit to be able to transform and change their lives, because the Holy Spirit is the guide and comforter of the believer.

Certainly the word "conversion" was the one with which our Lord began his ministry, because, Jesus wanted to teach a change in behavior, a change that goes beyond our very nature. It is such a significant change that later the Lord called it "a new birth", a change of heart and a baptism of fire.
