The lament of Nineveh, a ravaged city
The Bible tells us in the chapter quoted that Nineveh had become a bloodthirsty city, full of lies and prey ... because of the multitude of the fornications of the harlot of beautiful grace, teacher in spells, who seduces the nations with their fornications, and the people with their spells, but we find a sentence of God because of the sin of this city
"Behold, I am against you," says the army's jehovah, "and I will uncover your skirts on your face, and I will show the nations your nakedness, and the kingdoms your shame.
and I will cast you into unclean things, and I will affront you, and I will make you a manure "(verses: 5-6)
The fall of Nineveh is an act of divine retribution. Ancient sources and modern excavations confirm that portions of the city were burned. The fall of Nineveh silenced the Assyrians forever.
The wickedness of Assyria is described vividly. Nineveh was certainly a bloodthirsty city, guilty of bringing the innocent blood of a multitude of victims. The wealth and power made Nineveh a seductive ally, but in reality she was a harlot who demanded a heavy payment for her services.
Nineveh receives the punishment of a prostitute and an adulteress; exposure and public condemnation. Ezekiel 16: 35-39 describes similar judgment on Jesus.
Amos was the supreme god of Egypt. Tebas means "city of Amón", It was located in the superior course of the Nile around 560 km to the south of the modern cairo, and was the center of the Egyptian empire during more than 1400 years, until Assyria conquered it in 663 a.c. It was surrounded by sacred channels and temples, like Nineveh, and boasted of allies like Fut and Libya. The greatness of Thebes was something legendary. Nahum mentions it as a reminder that even the greatest fall.
The punishment inflicted on Thebes by Assyria will now fall on Nineveh
Nineveh was ripe for the trial, and her enemies anxious to participate in the spoils. The conquest is as easy as shaking the ripe fruit of a fig
Obviously Nineveh was devastated and destroyed, tried to paralyze this trial, but all the frantic effort was in vain. Ancient sources indicate that the Assyrian monarch died and the fire consumed his palace.

Pastors are leaders, people on whom the king depends. But instead of going to defend Nineveh, they slept the dream of death. Without leaders, the town spilled: the "queen city" of the ancient east had lost all its subjects.
The ruin of NINive provokes the rejoicing of nations.
However, it is important to note that a crucial test of faith for the chosen people comes when God judges the nations that surround him.
For Christians, this may mean that God judges the nation in which they live. The Lord is able to protect his people and free him from the punishment that affects his neighbors.
