THE GOLDEN CANDLE

In the church where I attend there is a representation of this golden candlestick that God commanded Moses to make. We had been told that whenever there was an event in the church the lamps should be lit. At first I thought it was a religious act and that it did not have a great meaning but I still obeyed and God taught me what it really meant.

That golden candlestick was in the temple and is very significant for the Jews, so much so that it is inscribed in one of its coins. This is a symbol of the presence of God in our life and there are some elements about which I would like to draw your attention to this particular (and wonderful) element:

1. It must be made of pure gold (v.31)

In the bible, gold is a symbol of holiness and of the kingdom. God is holy and he is king so he ordered that all the things that were going to be in the temple be made of gold, to give a representation to men of his divine nature. Today, his holiness and kingdom become clearly visible in our heart, which is his temple; we do not have a physical gold candlestick but remember that the candlestick is only a symbol, in our heart is the one who represents this candlestick: The Holy Spirit. We can admire the holiness and perfection of God in our own heart and we no longer need physical elements that give us an idea of ​​their nature, because their nature is already in us; we do not need a high priest who goes before us every day to ask for forgiveness for our sins, and Jesus Christ, our high priest, entered once in the temple forever that is not made of human hands and opened a path for us to arrive goodbye. Our body is the temple of the living God and that is why we can admire the beauty of God in our own life, without symbols or metaphors, but as it is.

2. 7 lamps should be made (v. 37)

The 7 in the bible is a symbol of perfection. Again this element refers to the perfect nature of God. While gold denotes its sanctity and sovereignty, the 7 lamps indicate its perfection. What other light do you need in your life that is not the light of God? Who can light the way of life but God? God is perfect and everything he does is perfect, He guides through his Spirit those who seek him from the heart. The Holy Spirit is the perfect light that God has given us to reach Him. The Word of God sanctifies us and enlightens us to always choose the best.

1. The 7 lamps should shine forward (v. 37)

God always guides us forward. A rule that God had set for this candlestick is that its fire could not be extinguished, from morning till evening it must have been shining, that is why the priests carried pure oil to light the flame and so it would not go out. Paul urges us not to let the Spirit go out.

Without the light of the Holy Spirit we are lost and have no guidance. We know that He guides us to all truth, so if we do not have his guide, our destiny will be darkness and lies. If we want to walk the path of truth, we can never let the fire of the Holy Spirit go out in our hearts, because the day that happens will die. Death consists in being far from God and without the Holy Spirit guiding us we will be far from his sweet presence.

If you feel discouraged and without desire to serve God, run to your room and pray! Lest your lamp be extinguished, do not wait for it to be late, light the fire of the Holy Spirit in your life.

How do we light the lamp? When we seek the presence of God in prayer and adoration, when our heart fervently longs for their home, when we approach Him with a humble heart that is willing to obey.

How is your candlestick today? Do you have it neglected? Run and fan the flame of the Holy Spirit in your life! The highest priority of our life must be this: THAT THE PRESENCE OF GOD IS NEVER TURNED OFF IN US.

When the flame of the Holy Spirit is caught in us and we walk by its light, we will enjoy its wonderful fruit in our life. God urged Moses to do everything according to the model that had been shown to him on the mountain, implying that he wanted the teaching that comes to us today to arrive just as he wanted to teach it to us. We can be sure of the fidelity of his Word and of his teaching; He is our teacher and he cares because we understand what he wants to teach us, it is up to us to strive to learn.
