GOD’S GREAT OFFER
“Come to me all you who have labour and are heavy laden, I will give you rest” Mtt. 11:28
Any man who responds to the call of the gospel as above and open up his heart for the Lord Jesus to come in will have his sins cleansed and purged. He will be free from the consequence of sins and God in His mercy will shield him with His arm of love (because of Jesus) He is now a child of God.
God is committed to be your Father. Your inheritance as a child of God is not just the material things that you can gather here and there God Himself becomes your heritage. All that God is and has all His power, all His wisdom, all His creation are laid out for you to inherit.
“I will be a father unto you and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty” 2 Cor. 6:18
WHAT IS THE IMPLICATION OF THIS?
God being our Father and we His children is a relationship that holds a lot for us.
For as many that are led by the spirit of God, these are the sons of God for you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the spirit of adoption by whom we cry
“Abba, Father!
The spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are the children of God; and if children, the heirs ---- heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with him, that we may also be glorified together. Rom 8:14 – 17
Now that God has accepted us to be His children, we have the spirit of adoption, the spirit of His son. Before now we had the spirit of bondage which we inherited from Adam because of sin. The spirit of bondage which was the spirit of a slave could not give us boldness to access God. But now that we are sons, God has sent forth the spirit of His son in our hearts crying,
“Abba, Father” - we are no longer slaves and at the same time, we are heirs of God through Christ Gal. 4:6:7
The spirit of adoption and the spirit of His son that God puts in you bind and answer you that you are a bonafide citizen in God’s family so you have the right to lay claims to what He has and have freely given to you.
Part of our glorious heritage is the Father’s discipline. Discipline trains up a child and furnishes the heir with what it takes to inherit the father so it is another manifestation of inheritance for the son.
And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to a son!
“My son do not despise the chastening of the Lord, Nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him.
