Following the Messiah – 1 Timothy 1:8steemCreated with Sketch.

We know that the law is good if one uses it properly.

This must have been one of those verses that went through one ear and out the other for many of us back in the day. I mean think about it. Most of us were told the law was done away with when Yeshua died on the cross. Yet, here we see Paul saying how the law was a good thing if it’s used right. The guy who so many uses to say the law is done away with says the law is good if used right.

And this is where much of the confusion is brought in. There were many who tried to use elements of the law in a negative way. They would say certain elements of the law was required for salvation. And that’s where many still miss it. The law does not provide salvation. One cannot obey the law for salvation. It was never designed to save. Never. However, one who chooses to follow after our messiah will prove it by following His example in pursuing the law.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, shalom!

Yes, we show our love for our heavenly father by obeying his rules when we give up our wishes and accept that He knows what is best for us.

Very well said @clifun! Thanks for the comment!

Howdy sir simms50! Yes, not only does the Law not save, wasn't it's purpose to prove that men were sinners and unable to keep it? Or something similar to that.

YES...EXACTLY!!!

  • Romans 7:7 "What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! On the contrary, I would not have known sin except through the law. For I would not have known covetousness unless the law had said, “You shall not covet.”

1 John 3:4 "Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. "

Ok Paul what else do you have to say about the Law of God?

  • Romans 7:12 "Therefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy and just and good."
  • Romans 3:31 "Do we then make void the law through faith? Certainly not! On the contrary, we establish the law."

Howdy today sir simms50! You are a great teacher! Have you ever been a teacher in the offline world?

Thank you sir janton! As to your question, well kind of but not really. A few of the guys at church rotate and do around a 15 minute commentary on the weekly Torah portion. That is about as much teaching that I have done so far!

Thanks for your support!

I see, that works too. Well I think you are a natural at it and you are very welcome!
