We are Nomads

Psalm 90:12 Sot each us to number our days that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.

What do we mean by numbering our days, should we look forward to dying or we are to enjoy the vanity of life because we are to fade away. Lots of people live with the ideology that they will eventually die and as such must enjoy everything that comes with life before they eventually fade away, thus they fornicate, they abuse drugs, they get addicted to alcohols, they fraud, they steal and a whole lot just to have a taste of “what life has to offer” which in their opinion are the things money gets you.

However today we are going to learn something we always known, the scripture tells us to number our days not for us to engage in these vices but rather to apply our heart to wisdom, what it means is that when we come to the realization that this land is not for us and that we are passers-by, we ought to do things worthy of being mentioned in our absence, we have to live right and righteously because after death there is judgement and the afterlife is where we would spend eternity. This would encourage us to grow in wisdom and use the small time we have left very wisely and efficiently.

To be able to apply our hearts to wisdom we need the understanding of God on how to spend our lives and this comes from the Holy Spirit and the daily study of the scripture. Let’s not forget that it is what we do here that would prepare us for eternity. It is my prayer that you come to this realization and the Lord direct you to apply your heart to wisdom and live a more fervent life. Amen
