In Gestalt therapy (one of the directions of psychotherapy) there is the concept of the phenomenon. Which is very clear to me.
A phenomenon is a relationship between raw reality and the human need to give it meaning, meanings.
We think the table is a table, and the chair is a chair only because once upon a long time it was agreed on. And, if this is the case, then what can we say about abstract concepts that we can not touch? What can we agree on?
And the phenomenon appears where we give the name to what we encountered.
