You can still convert SBD into STEEM - Step by step tutorial
The $1 USD to SBD peg is still valid. Conversion from SBD to STEEM has been removed from the wallet interface, but that doesn't mean it's gone.
And it's quite easy to do it, too! Use this link as a template then change accordingly:
https://steemconnect.com/sign/convert?owner=USERNAME&requestid=UNIQUENUMBER&amount=SBDAMOUNT%20SBD
USERNAME = Your account's username. In my case, @felipejoys.
UNIQUENUMBER = This is mandatory, just so you can track progress. It can be 1, 5000, 1248901294, etc. But it must be different from all of the other conversions currently in progress in your account. You can stick to 1 if you're only doing one at a time.
SBDAMOUNT = How much you want to convert, using 3 digits of precision. In example: 0.005, 0.090 or 210.999.

After I approve it using my Active Key, it will show up on my wallet like this:
