Braeburn’s 25 Day Trixie Challenge - Day 9

in #sbc6 years ago

The return of racing to the UK yesterday was good news for the sport as a whole but did little to turn around my ailing fortunes.

This glass is half full, look how happy I am!

Ballyheigue Bay drifted in the betting before unseating Tom Cannon at Plumpton whilst Bold Gesture, backed in to 7/2 joint favourite, was forced to pull up at Fairyhouse. Only Sonnet Rose, going off at 8/1 from a morning price of 14’s, managed to finish in the frame with a one length third at Kempton in the evening. Still, it’s good for the old morale to finish the day on high, even if it didn’t win me any moolah.

Today, if you’ll pardon the pun, I am getting straight back on the horse with three more selections at three different tracks all at tasty prices. Something Brewing looks really nicely handicapped in a six-horser at Kelso. Regarding Ruth had a great hurdling debut last month and must have a chance in an open looking novices race at Fontwell under the ride of Maxine (le) Tissier. Finally to Chelmsford City, where I’ve plumped for Ertitaad in a decent looking handicap sprint. This horse looks strong on the handicap, has a decent RPR and with Adam Kirby on board must be in with a great shout.

As always my optimism is high. While results are indifferent the selection process remains consistent and it will only take three places to get me right back on track. Glass. Half. Full.

Below are today’s selections and details of the opening and closing balance.
