Conjunction

So my wife was very excited to go Star gazing tonight, because Saturn and Jupiter were suppose to be the closest they have been in the night sky in like 800 years!

Apparently the last conjunction was over 100 years ago, but for this one they would be the closest they have been for longer then that....

Star of Bethlehem

So apparently, some astronomers believe that the Star of Bethlehem was not a star at all, but instead the visual representation of the conjunction of Saturn and Jupiter! Apparently they appear not as two stars but as one big one.

Christmas Star

This is also believed to be the origin of the famous Christmas Star, which only comes every 100 years!
