Quillpologies ... I Am So Sorry

Recently, I published a post, The Quillquatch Debacle, about an experience that occurred a couple of decades ago. The piece was intended to be humorous, a parody. Since the publication of said post, my DM has exploded in protest, as have protests on a number of other social media platforms on which the hyperlink to the post appeared. 

In this time of heightened sensitivity to matters of Diversity and Inclusion, I realize, upon reflection, that my article included comments that were ... insensitive. It was not my intention to invalidate the existence of Sasquatches, Bigfoots(feet) or Yetis. Indeed, given the sheer volume of feedback I have received, I now have no doubt that they are not only real, but numerous.

On that last point, my thought processes had failed to acknowledge the existence of non-biological Sasquatches, individuals that self-identify as Sasquatches, Bigfoots(feet), Yetis (SBY) and other Non-Specific-Species of Self-Identifying Trans-Woodland Individuals (NSSSITWI). Each of us has the right to determine our own Truths and others must be sensitive to, and respectful of, such choices.

And so, I would like to take this opportunity to offer my sincere apologies to those who may have been offended by my words. Mea Culpa. I WILL strive to do better. As down-payment on future endeavor, I would like to announce the creation of a new hashtag: #SasquatchesToo.

Such hashtag, of course, IS NOT meant to mis-speciate Bigfoots(feet), Yetis or other Non-Specific-Species of Self-Identifying Trans-Woodland Individuals. Simply, the inclusion of all Woodland Species, whether biological or self-identifying, in the hashtag proper would make it impractically long and cumbersome. But rest assured, the distinctiveness and specialness of all such individuals is no less appreciated as, I hope, is demonstrated below:

I would further like to extend my apologies to those who have been abducted by aliens and who may have taken umbrage by the following comment in the aforementioned article:

Have you had a similar experience? If not with Sasquatches, perhaps with aliens. I hear they like sunglasses. I have found it helps to share, to unload the burden of carrying about traumatic memories. So, please ... fell free to unburden your soul in the comments section.

This, too, was grossly insensitive of me. 

Had I conducted even cursory background research, I would have discovered why aliens, especially the Greys, are so interested in our sunglasses. Although it pains me to admit it, I have not been particularly "woke" of late and am sincerely sorry for the pain I have inflicted upon others.

Of course, talk is cheap. 

Realizing that my attitude reflects Human Privilege, I have enrolled in a Woodland Species Sensitivity Training Course. It is a comprehensive Implicit Bias re-training program that addresses the wide assortment of oppressions faced by all members of the SBYNSSSITWI community, and other victimized groups such as bears, beavers and bobcats.
