Passion!

Sales is an art. There are a lot different little things that we need to pay attention to when it comes to selling our products and services. You need to pay attention to your mannerisms, body language, tone, pitch, inflection and energy. You need to be confident, supportive and a problem solver.

I have been in sales a long time and I know price doesn't sell anything. So many awful salesmen sell to price and it doesn't get you anywhere in the end. People want the passion you have for your product (or services). Passion is a major selling point, get excited and show it in your voice when talking about your widget. Drop value statements like, "...and we are the only ones with this".

Passion is very much connected to an emotion and when I sell, I always try to bring emotions into the product like, "I was a customer before I was an employee and the reason I got my wife this product is because, I love her." This may sound very "cheesy" the first or second time you say it and a little off, but the weight and power behind emotions like this are heavy to say the least.

This can also be used to battle the old, "I need to speak to my spouse" obstacle. I would maybe say something like, "Funny you should say that, last night I was driving around with my wife and I ask her what she wants to eat for dinner, she says to me, "I don't care", but I know better than to drive up to a fast food restaurant, when my wife's hungry she wants a "sit down place" with better food. You know what I'm saying? So we know what our spouse likes, right? Something better, more affordable and with great customer care"

Nothing can compare to an emotion like Passion. Passion is sexy, passion is pride, passion will land that next sale.
